The Option That Wasn’t Meant to Be Built
Not every design option is meant to be built.
In this project, one proposal sat slightly outside the brief: a narrow studio addition we called The Library. It didn’t add bedrooms or solve guest accommodation. It didn’t tick every practical box. Instead, it offered something more specific: a quiet, characterful retreat for work and thought, set apart from the daily rhythm of family life.
The Library wasn’t the obvious solution. But it revealed something essential about how the clients wanted to live. And in doing so, it reshaped the entire direction of the project.
